College & University Flu Vaccination Challenges Winner
2014-2020
Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) teamed up with colleges and universities to challenge students to get vaccinated against the flu. The Campus Health Center ran this challenge at Wayne State University for the past six years and proudly took home the victory in the medium-sized school category for six consecutive years.
We also won the Innovative Champion award in 2015 and 2016, the years it was offered.
Congratulations Wayne State Students and the Campus Health Center!
Memberships
American College Health Association (ACHA)
With over 20 million students attending US colleges and universities, higher education institutes are not only responsible for providing health care for a diverse group of people, but they also have the unique opportunity to enhance individual and community health. The Campus Health Center is proud to be a member of ACHA, which helps us better promote health and wellness on campus, keeping Wayne State students healthy so they attain their educational and personal goals.
Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners (MICNP)
The Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners (MICNP) was a product of two nurse practitioner (NP) groups from the Metro Detroit area coming together in September 2000. It is the only NP organization in the state to represent all specialties within the nurse practitioner community.
The mission of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners, as a member-driven organization, is to promote a healthy Michigan through advocating for excellence in NP practice, education, and research; shaping the future of health care through advancing health policy; ensuring the ability of NPs to practice to the full extent of their education; and building a positive image of the NP role as a leader in the state and national healthcare community.
The Campus Health Center, and our parent organization, Nursing Practice Corporation, is honored to be a part of the MICNP, and we are focused on continuing the promotion of nurse practitioners and nurse-managed care here in Michigan.
Outpatient Influenza-like Illness Surveillance Network ( ILINet)
ILINet is a collaborative partnership between clinicians, local health departments, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CHC participates in this program because we understand the importance of contributing to the science and knowledge needed to help protect the community we serve. Data shared helps to report vital epidemiological and virologic data needed to help plan for and develop next year’s flu vaccines.
