insurance

Students are responsible for knowing their insurance coverage. If you have an HMO or out-of-network insurance plan, referrals and/or prior authorization from your primary care provider is required. Contact your insurance company for more information.

Students are responsible for co-pays and deductibles as well as any labs, tests, and procedures that are not covered by their insurance plan.

All Wayne State students get one free illness visit per semester regardless of insurance coverage. This does not include any additional labs, tests, procedures, or medications. Additional office visits for uninsured patients require a $35 minimum payment on the date of service, reduced fees are available. Inquire at the front desk.

Note: For international students who are enrolled in the WSU sponsored health plan, we are the Primary Care Provider.  For those students who also have their spouse or child on their health plan, CHC will also provide care for your spouse and children.  Dependent children must be at least 18 months old.  Please visit www.studentinsurance.com for additional information and enrollment. The WSU Office of International Students and Scholars facilitate this health plan: http://oiss.wayne.edu
